The BAB boulevard in Anglet city (Atlantic Coast –  South of Bordeaux), is a structuring axis on a territorial scale, allowing the connection of major activity, commercial, and leisure hubs. The Larochefoucauld suburbs development project is an ambitious initiative aimed of Anglet’s city development. By redesigning the city entrance and changing the status of BAB to create a calm urban boulevard, Anglet is initiating a total overhaul of this traffic axis. The Larochefoucauld project will thus be exemplary in this regard.

The work to be done therefore has a dual purpose :
First on a territorial scale, it aims to improve traffic flow, safety, then the integration of a major infrastructure. At the city and neighborhood level, studies for the development of Larochefoucauld must focus on creating an urban space, a place of social interaction, a vibrant area occupied by everyday services and businesses.

Before the project, «the BAB road» is perceived as an urban highway, the city turning its back on it. The ambitions of the project have initiated a transformation and recovery of these spaces by the city which are supported by new constructions to come. A new configuration of the street, affirms a inhabited and functional space on a human scale. The new route segments the flow of the boulevard, currently too linear and continuous as well as the new soft mobilities are created, thus contributing to a cross weaving, pacifying the whole area.

The proposed layout offers a peaceful view of the city entrances and will improve daily traffic flow. The reflection will also focus on a new perpsective for the neighboring neighborhoods. Place Larochefoucauld is a key element of a global project. The presented intentions define a strong presence of vegetation, a better integration of soft modes of transport and support for new uses.
