Puerto Azul: A Landscape Renewal and Sustainability Project

Puerto Azul is a landscape renewal and regeneration project that, within the broader transformation of the hotel complex, aims to naturalize tourist spaces. The goal is to achieve harmonious integration between the landscape, vegetation, architectural design, and the guest experience.
The primary objective was to create synergy between vegetation, architecture, and use—enhancing the environmental quality and overall user experience within the resort. Landscaping complements and enriches the built environment, providing greener, more exotic, sustainable, and inviting surroundings in areas such as solariums, pathways to rooms, dining spaces, and the main entrance.

The plant selection was made with careful consideration of local climate adaptability and water efficiency, supported by a centralized irrigation system. Each vegetation zone defines spatial intentions and creates a dynamic sequence of environments that envelops the guest and enhances their stay.
In today’s context, the naturalization and reforestation of existing hotel complexes has become an urgent necessity—not merely as an aesthetic or comfort-driven strategy, but as a genuine commitment to the environment and sustainability. These efforts help reconnect humans with nature, promoting a more conscious, respectful, and healthy way of inhabiting space. Adapting tourist environments to greener models not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances guests’ physical and emotional well-being. In this approach, the landscape ceases to be a mere backdrop and becomes an active agent of ecological, social, and cultural transformation.
