An innovative urban project designed by Perimetral and AE Arquitectos, in collaboration with the American firm SWA, Bosquet redefines the concept of contemporary urbanization by prioritizing sustainability, landscape design, and integration with the natural environment. This high-end development comprises 17 single-family lots spread across 4 hectares, with more than 50% of the site dedicated to green spaces, establishing itself as a project that places the landscape at the heart of its design.
One of Bosquet’s most distinctive features is the restoration of two pre-existing ravines, transformed into the green lungs of the community. These areas were reclaimed from debris fill and regenerated into ecological corridors that foster biodiversity, improve environmental quality, and serve as natural reservoirs for rainwater. The original topography was strategically used to create elevated platforms, ensuring privacy for each residence while optimizing panoramic views of the surrounding natural context. This strategy allows each lot to establish a unique connection to the landscape, respecting and enhancing the original environment.
Access to the development is designed as a monumental experience, with an entrance that merges residential scale and theatricality. A 40-meter horizontal concrete slab, pigmented in soft tones, appears to float between wood, local stone, and steel, framed by lush vegetation. This entrance is not only functional—incorporating security, services, and storage areas—but also conceived as an architectural identity marker. A large endemic Guamúchil tree (Pithecellobium dulce) stands as the focal point around which the design is organized, symbolizing the project’s commitment to native species.
Circulation is structured around a single winding cobblestone street, designed to soften slopes and reduce vehicle speed. Generous sidewalks connect natural trails and residence entrances, while planted embankments and tree lines provide visual and acoustic buffering. Over 300 trees were planted throughout the site, with a planting palette curated to offer seasonal color, shade, and privacy. Notable species include Jacarandas, Royal Poincianas, Pepper Trees, Montezuma Bald Cypresses, and Oaks, interspersed with pollinator-friendly and drought-tolerant plants that support a naturalistic and regenerative landscape.
The green spaces also include two artificial lakes designed for stormwater management, surrounded by aquatic vegetation and natural trails. These areas, conceived as “secret valleys,” invite residents to explore serene and protected environments, while the elevated terraces preserve privacy for the homes above. Every detail—from the layout of the paths to the ambient lighting—is intended to create a sensory experience that changes with the light and the seasons.
Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of Bosquet’s design. Expanses of traditional lawn were avoided in favor of site-adapted plant coverage that encourages native species propagation and reduces water use. Additionally, the lighting—developed in collaboration with Noriega Iluminadores—highlights both vegetation and architectural elements, creating a magical atmosphere at night.
The development process, which began in 2019, involved close collaboration with engineers, biologists, agronomists, and lake specialists. The 2020 pandemic introduced additional challenges, such as the unexpected presence of debris instead of compactable soil in the ravines. These obstacles were overcome through innovative solutions that remained faithful to the original vision of creating a functional and regenerative landscape.
Bosquet is more than a housing development—it is a model for how urban design can coexist harmoniously with its environment. With a holistic approach to sustainability and the integration of architecture, landscape, and local materials, this project sets a new standard for contemporary developments that aim to transcend convention, respond to today’s needs, and contribute to environmental regeneration.
