“Farm” Playhub by AFA Bureau

The “Farm” Playhub is located in the residential area of “Belaya Dacha Park” by PIK.

The main idea is to create a calm, peaceful atmosphere reminiscent of a country house, with the leaves rustling, the herbs scent, winding paths, coziness, and the sound of children’s laughter. The area is named after the Arshenievskys’ white mansion. This 19th-century estate became the inspiration for the “Farm” concept — a two-story wooden house rises in the center of the Playhub.

The central boulevard has a linear structure. To create the country-style atmosphere the winding path through the Playhub was created. As a result, the path feels more charming and natural and the views are revealed step by step. In addition to the main route there is a secondary one – a wooden deck path, which turns into amphitheatres surrounded by greenery. Also as a part of spontaneous play concept we added sensory trails and secret paths through bushes.

The heart of Playhub “Farm” is a two-story wooden playhouse with a watermill. The roof is covered with shingles as in an authentic country house. The house is surrounded by a rill that begins with a watermill and ends with a small pond. Children can lift a bucket of water from this pond to the second floor of the playhouse and circle it back through the pipes in the floor. The intention was to create a cooperative play and give the opportunity to interact with water in unusual and experimental ways.

The house is also a place for active scenarios. Children can climb up inside the “chimney” and rush down through a high tunnel slide.

“Chicken coop” with a mother hen and chicks is for toddlers and their parents.
Risk is an important part of the development of schoolchildren and teens. Recklessness is provided by swings and climbing structure reminiscent of pile of logs.

Lush greenery, appletrees, herbs and flowers, green hills, hammocks surrounded by bushes, wooden sheep that can be mounted and petted, wind vanes – all these create the atmosphere of an authentic country house on a farm.
