This is a seaside ecological park located in Haitang Bay, Sanya, with the famous Atlantis Water World in Sanya in the distance and the endless sea even further away, with a double-sided landscape view of the sea and river.
The designer utilizes plants and the undulation of the terrain to skillfully complete a spatial pattern that is both vast and compact, secluded and soothing. There are steep slopes, soothing lawns, open plains, large trees and deep forests, presenting a rich landscape style.
Eco-friendly landscape design
The landscape expresses more of a more relaxing and participatory waterfront park scene. The walkway along the riverbank follows the eco-friendly principle, preserving the mangrove forests from afar to the greatest extent possible. On this basis, the designer added big trees of old age to reflect this rich and deep forest along the river bank. From afar, the trunks of the large trees are hidden under the terrain, the meandering and undulating greens terrain in the near distance, and the superimposed integration with the native mangrove forest in the far distance.
Landscape scene switching utilizing structural space and vegetation
In the main entrance area, the landscape utilizes micro-environmental elements such as structural space and vegetation to change scenes. Resort-style eggplant trees and coconut palms are used, and the shrubbery is colorful. The landscape corridor consists of several bamboo umbrella-like structures, and every detail of the bamboo weaving method, density and permeability has been polished and refined. More than 30 non-heritage craftsmen from all over China spent 40 days on site to complete the weaving. Bamboo weaving, a warm, simple and intriguing material that reflects traditional cultural craftsmanship, is the perfect combination of modern craftsmanship and traditional handicrafts.
Wave-themed children’s water play area
Inspired by waves, the children’s water play area simulates the shape of rolling waves, bringing endless joy to children. Walking barefoot on the coconut grove walkway, the sand grains are gently massaged under your feet, or playing and digging in the sand. For adults and children alike, this is the most relaxing way to open an island vacation.
Lighthouse Landscape Architecture Deepens Site Memory
Near the riverbank, the designers tried to deepen the site memory with a landscape installation. 11,264 glass blocks were hand-pieced together to create a lighthouse-like landscape structure with a transparent structure and a hollowed-out top, which we called “A Light”. It is not only an ideal place for people to interact and take photos, but also a spiritual structure in the space. It is a physical space, but also a symbol of the spiritual core of the site.
