The Politan Aqua

The Politan Aqua, is a 61-storey condominium with 2,741 units for the mid-range market. Located on the banks of the Chaopraya River, Thailand’s life-blood since ancient times. This is a very rare location in greater Bangkok nowadays. This project is the 3rd project launched in the Politan series which is located next to each other in the same location. Aim to keep the key concept derives from river continuously from phase 1, the Politan Rive, which is more urban look and phase 2, the Politan Breeze, which is in resort mood. While budget control remains a challenge to deliver a competitive investment for this mid-range development.

Design goal is not only to serve all clients requirements, but aim to bring value of project itself by creating design that can tell story about its physical site location and also can link to the past of culture around this site.

To create The Politan Aqua’s uniqueness, the design is highlighting on the old way riverside spirit more than previous phases. Add more natural area and reduce hardscape portion. Inspired from cultural landscape in the past of Thai river life which bonded with river, stayed in wooden raft houses while river was the main circulation. Use it as landscape design story and design to support modern lifestyle with respect to river. Intentionally design space that residents can feel Chaopraya in various dimensions with modern design language and materials without physically touching the river. Only Vetiver Grass, water tolerant planting and dam in riverbank area and place the facility away from it by using design approaches to keep connection with Chaopraya. Place the facilities spread throughout project to reduce user density.
Throughout the project, residents will experience a different Chaopraya connection. Start from ground floor
“Politan signature pond”, reflecting pond which connects to “Social Swimming pool”, swimming pool is located to surround on corner of building in order to bring the Chaopraya river closer visually and also maximize the reflection of the beautiful natures into water surface. Or enjoy Chaopraya from a higher angle on “River Naga Bridge” , that is inspired from rafting platform connected like the flowing shape of river or Naga in Thai legend.

Upper on the 8th floor offers the experience of seamlessly connection between infinity edge pool and Chaopraya river surface while enjoy various activities for everyone. Moreover, on the 60th floor extraordinary experience is waiting in form of ” Aqua pano pool”. Which offers various kinds of surreal experience of pool such as Social jacuzzi, private pool and sky floating deck seating with spacious and stunning view set high above Chapraya river view. Other design elements which represent wooden rafts and river are properly placed in each area to continue the design story.

Ground Floor

The Politan Pond

This signature pond is our design which owner uses continously as a signature feature from Phase 1 of The Politan condominium series. (The Politan Rive)
It is a reflecting pond located in front of sales office as an intro of water existing and reflect of naturally beautiful of sky in the site.

The Social Swimming Pool

Connect with the Politan Pond is the swimming pool. It is located to surround on corner of building in order to bring the Chaopraya river closer visually and also maximize the reflection of the beautiful natures into water surface. Which will change beautifully through the whole day according to color of the sky and cloud. Residents can feel like swimming through Chaopraya because its visually connection and enjoy various functions in pool such as swimming, plunge, jacuzzi and kid pool for serving different target group in the project.

River Naga Bridge

Form the pool, residents can stroll through the stepping platform like a journey on modern wooden rafts to the River Naga Bridge, the view point bridge to enjoy different experience viewing Chaopraya from higher view. Which is inspired from rafting platform connected like the flowing shape of river or Naga in Thai legend. Underneath is the cozy seating area to chill with river view surrounded by columns that is inspired from mooring pole in the old day.

Aqua Terrace

Next to river bank is “Aqua Terrace”, as a river front garden which main elements is open lawn with dynamic narrow curb line that inspired from rive wave. Carefully placed some trees and shrub randomly as a middle ground for river and feel the wind existence and to stay connect all elements to river. At the riverbank area keep only Vetiver Grass, damn and plantings that allow flood in rainy season.

The 8th and 9th floor

Place the swimming pool on the river side to level up bonding with the river more than “the Politan Rive”. Keep design language that inspired from wooden raft and river from ground floor. Experience seamlessly connection between infinity edge pool and Chaopraya river surface and enjoy various activities for everyone such as Lap pool, jacuzzi and kid pool. And place other activity zone on city view side to create city bonding. Evoke neighborhood connection awareness through green area with big pavilion in same language design with Naga bridge on ground floor. This pavilion is the level transition space with ramp and steps provided and the link between floor 8 to floor 9. Where the “Aqua Sky park” locates with playground and big lawn which is multipurposed for strolling, sitting and enjoy the outdoor with overhead trellis and pavilion which inspired from wooden raft and river flow. On the other side of floor 9 is another big the area for passive activity called “Aqua sky garden” Which provide a pleasant seating experience with more softscape and less than 20% of hardscape elements such as Pavilions and walkway while design still represents the wooden rafts and water flow in contemporary language surrounded by greenery.

The 60th, 61th floor and rooftop

Learned from previous project” the Politan Rive”, the rooftop area is mostly occupied only when the sunlight is gone. So landscape architect collaborated with an architect to provide part of building as shade area in order to expand period of rooftop usage. By creating extraordinary experience with” Aqua pano pool”. Which offers various kinds of surreal experience of pool such as Social jacuzzi to indulge with the height, wide sky and 270 degree of city view, Private jacuzzi which provides more privacy to enjoy curve of Chaopraya from wonderful angle from above, small lap pool for workout and sky floating deck seating which give the residents privilege feeling like floating above cloud. All water surface is connected intentionally to be the seamlessly connected to the sky and water. Allow residents to spend more time to recharge their happiness from nature.
