Tucked away in a charming new pocket park in the heart of Amsterdam’s historic Oud-Zuid district, Valerius offers a sophisticated residential environment. This green oasis not only provides a peaceful sanctuary for residents and local wildlife, but also plays a role in cooling the city – a perfect fusion of urban living and nature.

The redevelopment of the former Valerius Clinic presented a unique opportunity to transform the area into a nature-inclusive living space that harmonizes with the area’s elegant 19th-century architecture. The building, designed by MVSA, radiates modern elegance and, together with the pocket park, forms a vibrant and sustainable addition to the area.

The private inner courtyard is an ever-changing green domain, offering a space where residents and the surrounding community can connect. Across the seasons, an array of flowers and plants bloom and fade in turn, creating a dynamic play of shifting landscapes and moods.

Clever use of elevation ensures a perfect balance between shelter and openness, offering privacy for the three ground-floor apartments. The courtyard, not only adorned with beautiful flowers and plants, is also furnished with high-quality materials, such as carefully chosen furniture and natural stone that integrate with the building’s facade.

It’s a visual delight by day, and beautifully illuminated in the evening—inviting at every moment.
