Nestled between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava, the comarca of Osona is a land of contrasts and quiet beauty. With its fertile plains, winding rivers, and surrounding mountains, the region offers an extraordinary tapestry of natural landscapes and cultural heritage. This rich environment is the foundation for the “Osona Viewpoints Network” (Xarxa de Miradors d’Osona), an initiative led by the Osona County Council to celebrate, protect, and share the region’s scenic and historical wealth.
Osona is home to iconic natural spaces such as the Montseny Natural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; the wild forests of the Guilleries-Savassona Natural Area; and the rolling, pastoral plateau of Lluçanès. These landscapes not only define the character of the region but also provide a window into its ecological and cultural past.

The project focuses on four carefully chosen viewpoints:

Bellmunt Viewpoint in Sant Pere de Torelló
Roc Llarg Viewpoint in Sant Bartomeu del Grau
 Ponent Viewpoint in Perafita
Munts Viewpoint in Sant Agustí del Lluçanès

Each site was selected for its visual impact and its potential to tell the story of Osona’s diverse ecosystems, geology, and centuries-old human presence.

A key goal of the network is to protect and enhance the natural and scenic value of these places. The interventions are designed with sensitivity, adapting to the specific features of each site while following a unified aesthetic. This consistency across the viewpoints helps visitors understand them as part of a larger journey—an invitation to explore Osona through a curated lens of landscape and memory.
Central to the design is the use of local stone, a material deeply rooted in the region’s architectural tradition. Chosen for its durability, low environmental impact, and natural elegance, the stone is used in a raw, almost sculptural form to build platforms, paths, and seating areas. This approach creates a strong yet harmonious presence that blends seamlessly with the surroundings.

Each viewpoint is marked by a distinctive corten steel totem filled with recycled glass rock—an eco-conscious material from the glass industry. These totems provide interpretive content about the site and the network, enriching the visitor’s understanding and experience.

The Osona Viewpoints Network is more than a tourism initiative—it’s a commitment to stewardship, education, and sustainable discovery. By making the landscape accessible while protecting its essence, the project strengthens Osona’s identity and offers a meaningful, responsible way to connect with one of Catalonia’s most soulful territories.
