CityPlace at Springwoods Village is a pedestrian-friendly urban district featuring office, retail, residential, hospitality and open spaces. The 60-acre development balances nature, urbanism and diversity. The site preserves a forest habitat and is organized with a connected drainage corridor/park system to assist with stormwater collection. Eight interconnected ponds allow for an 8’ water fluctuation accommodating a 100-year flood event.
Transforming the detention system into a public amenity, a series of lakes, waterfalls and open activity areas are linked with boardwalks/jetties. A landscaped trail system connects CityPlace to Springwoods Village’ residential communities, recreation venues, and its nature preserve.
The design includes 100% native and adaptive Gulf Coast plants, along with aquatic planting to filter stormwater runoff into the lakes. Water is recirculated for uses, including irrigation.
CityPlace Plaza sits at the heart of the community and offers a vibrant gathering place with water features and flexible green space. The plaza is frequently programmed with a range of activities, including festivals, pop-up markets, fitness classes, kids’ activities and movie nights. Park visitors can relax on the expansive central green or along the overlook facing the lake. Moveable furnishings throughout the park provide opportunities to create communal spaces within the different terraces and along the promenade. A canopy of trees shades the different lounge areas and gaming courts, which feature several ping pong tables. The plaza terraces down to the water’s edge where the boardwalk connects to CityPlace Park, integrated with the area’s natural ecosystem and provides flexible infrastructure for different activities.
