Sotiria Kornaropoulou

Sotiria Kornaropoulou is a senior architect & partner at 51N4E, where she has been contributing to the firm’s wide range of projects since 2006. About her work at 51N4E, she says: “I got to grow along with the office and help structure our hunch that architectural practice is about shaping the outcome as much as it is about the process to get there. I believe in the capacity of spatial design to weave relations, and in the responsibility of the designer to bridge different agendas from the tangible experience to systemic concerns.

Within 51N4E she gradually focused on modes of integrating architecture with landscape and on developing the engagement of the office in long-term, cross-disciplinary environmental thinking. She oversees projects regrouping under the thematic line of Performative Landscapes- seeking opportunities for urban ecologies in cultural and infrastructural landscapes (Skanderbeg Square Tirana, Super Terram, Ringpark Zuid Antwerp)- and the development of Root, a structural collaboration with Plant & Houtgoed with an experimental design-by-maintenance perspective.
